Olivia Munn blamed for Aaron Rodgers’ Struggles

49th Annual Academy Of Country Music Awards - ShowFor any mortal quarterback, Aaron Rodgers’ recent three-game numbers would be great: 779 passing yards, 6 touchdown passes and one interception. But for Rodgers, this is merely typical. What’s worse is that his team is currently mired in a three-game losing streak after starting the year 6-0. And according to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, one of the biggest problems behind Rodgers’ mini slump is his girlfriend, Olivia Munn.

The 35-year-old actress began dating the Green Bay Packers quarterback last year. And Rodgers has kept his stellar play up all along the way. However, this began changing three weeks ago, when Green Bay lost an ugly 29-10 game in Denver and Rodgers tallied a career-worst 77 passing yards. Since then he’s more than righted his stats — 702 yards, 6 TD’s, 1 INT in last two games — but the Packers keep losing.

This prompted Demovsky to capitalize on the subject by writing Five reasons why Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is struggling. The first four reasons weren’t anything groundbreaking: Jordy Nelson tore his ACL, defenses aren’t jumping offsides for Rodgers, he’s potentially injured, and Mike McCarthy isn’t calling the plays now. But it was the fifth reason involving Munn that ignited the firestorm. Here’s an excerpt from the article:

aaron-rodgers-bet-3“A longtime NFL agent told me recently that when he sees one of his top-performing clients play differently, as Rodgers has of late, the first thing he wonders is if something is going on in his personal life. There’s no indication that Rodgers’ relationship status has changed. Lions reporters said they spotted Rodgers’ girlfriend, actress Olivia Munn, at Lambeau Field on Sunday. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that professional athletes have lives away from the field, and you never know what could be going on in their personal lives.”

This certainly isn’t a stinging allegation against the couple. but it was enough to upset Munn, who called out Demovsky on Twitter with the following two burns:

“Playing it fast and loose w/the journalism @RobDemovsky. Your professional skills are lacking… you must be having personal problems at home.”

“The trolls can have their comments, it’s not them I’m calling out, it’s the journalists.”

olivia-munn-2The latter comment was made after somebody advised Munn not to debate with trolls. And it’s clear that she isn’t afraid to tweet whatever’s on her mind with regard to Demovsky’s speculation.

As for Rodgers, it seems like he can’t win either way. Two years ago, he had to squash rumors that he’s gay; now he’s in a serious relationship, and it’s being blamed as the possible reason why Green Bay isn’t winning. But for the record, Green Bay is still 6-3 and just a game behind the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC North. They actually play Minnesota this weekend in a game that will have serious implications for who wins the division.
