2018 NFL Super Bowl Odds – Futures for Super Bowl 53

tom-brady-deflate-gateThe NFL preseason is upon us, which means that it won’t be long before teams are battling for a chance to play in Super Bowl 53. But who has the best chance of winning the championship in the 2018-19 season?

This is always a hard question to answer, because the NFL features more parity than other professional sports leagues. However, if we’re basing everything off the current GTBets Super Bowl odds, then the New England Patriots (+500) are slight favorites over the L.A. Rams (+750).

The defending champion Philadelphia Eagles (+800) check in at third, while the Pittsburgh Steelers (+1000) have the fourth-best odds. You can see the full odds below along with some analysis on the top teams.

Thoughts on Top 2018 Super Bowl Contenders

New England +500

bill-belichick-patriotsThe Patriots don’t have the greatest roster depth this season. But it’s hard to bet against Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, especially when they’re coming off two straight Super Bowl appearances.

Brady is proving that age is just a number after another highly successful season. The 41-year-old threw for 4,577 yards, 32 touchdowns, eight interceptions — all good for a 102.8 rating.

New England always seems to do more with less. They’ll be really tested to pull off this feat again, because their defense doesn’t look too stout right now.

L.A. Rams +750

todd-gurley-ramsThe Rams surprised many by winning the NFC West title last year. Now, they’re the trendy pick to win Super Bowl 53 by many experts.

The team already has stars in Jared Goff, Todd Gurley, and Aaron Donald. Then they went out and added high-impact free agents like Brandin Cooks, Marcus Peters, Aqib Talib, and Ndamukong Suh. Don’t be surprised if L.A. lives up to the lofty expectations placed on them.

Philadelphia Eagles +800

carson-wentz-eaglesThe Eagles are fresh off their first Super Bowl victory in franchise history. Considering that they return most of last year’s championship roster, it doesn’t seem unfathomable to think that they could repeat.

However, their odds have taken a hit due to injuries. Starting QB Carson Wentz and receiver Alshon Jeffery won’t be ready for Week 1. And Super Bowl MVP/backup Nick Foles sprained his shoulder during the preseason. Assuming they get healthy, Philly has a good shot to make a return Super Bowl visit.

Pittsburgh Steelers +1000

antonio-brown-steelersThe Pittsburgh Steelers have an extremely talented offense led by Antonio Brown, Le’Veon Bell, and Ben Roethlisberger. However, they have yet to get over the hump and make a Super Bowl with this talented group.

Pittsburgh’s season ended in disappointment with a narrow loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the divisional round.

Previously, they’ve been haunted by losses to the Patriots. Will this finally be the year that they make it out of the AFC?

Green Bay Packers +1100

aaron-rodgersIt’s a wonder how Green Bay’s season might have gone if Aaron Rodgers hadn’t gotten hurt (collarbone) midway through. As it is, they struggled mightily with Brett Hundley under center and finished 7-9.

Rodgers is back, though, which means that the Packers once again have a chance to win any game. His receiving corp is solid, with DaVante Adams, Randal Cobb, and Jimmy Graham. But the run game and defense will be question marks.

Minnesota Vikings +1200

The Vikings benefited from a lucky Hail Mary pass against the New Orleans Saints in the divisional round. However, their run ended with a brutal 38-7 loss to the Eagles in the NFC Championship.

Minnesota responded by inking Kirk Cousins to a big contract. The immediate thought is that Cousins will make this team instantly better. But then again, the $84-million man has yet to win a playoff game.
